With the colds and flu season just around the corner here in the Western hemisphere we know old man winter is closing in upon us and a perfect time to sit with a cup of hot tea and enjoy the cold crisp air while making our bodies healthier.
Tea is such a refreshing and nice way of enjoying life but is also a mode for keeping healthy or treating some simple everyday health problems. Listed here are a few of my favorites. You might want to print this out to keep.
Since coffee has become such a habit with the largest part of the population we find far more illnesses and diseases, could there be a correlation?
Studies done at Tufts University of Boston and the University of Connecticut show tea to be great antioxidants. That means it neutralized the free radicals that cause cell changes and produce cancer.
So drink tea and know you are getting healthier . . . Green Tea is one of the highest in antioxidant properties, can be found in any grocery store or health food store traditionally served with Asian foods. Researchers at Purdue University in Indiana reported that a compound in green tea called EGCG inhibits the activity of an enzyme required for cancer cell growth, which explains why previous studies have found that people who drink four or more cups of green tea daily run a lower than average risk of cancer.
Teas alone should never be used as a total healing process and is far more effective as a preventative measure or used in conjunction with herbs as a treatment modality.
Teas are usually recommended for milder forms of problems or in conjunction with other herbs. More severe problems call for Tincture of herbs, which is the stronger!
Pre-nineteenth century hot herbal tea was the chosen morning drink but that went by the wayside when coffee came upon the scene and tea is not now drunk in too many societies on a daily basis, which is sad.
